Hey everyone!
I am jazzed up about re-starting this group!
As we get started, I want to share some thoughts about what we’re setting out to do… First off, your presence at our meeting speaks volumes about you. No matter how or why you are motivated to join in this cause, it is very important to recognize that you’re poised to do a lot of good.
The St. Patrick Center Rehabilitation Center for the Homeless of downtown St. Louis is simply an outstanding organization. (Check out their website – http://www.stpatrickcenter.org/ ) There are plenty of reasons why they are considered a viable model for other charitable groups. That said – they are still very focused on improving their outreach. That’s where we come in.
Yet, considering the transportation of large numbers of students to downtown, and the fact that homelessness is also an issue in west St. Louis county, we will try to create volunteer opportunities that will be more convenient for some. Regardless, your contributions are welcome! Thanks to Jennifer for volunteering to contact some places!
Further, the ideas about fundraising that came up are great. I’ll explore these options.
Also, I’d like to compliment those who seemed interested in raising awareness in this school. Very important. I’ll work on this too.
Please add your own ideas to this blog about how to make this a premier group!
Thanks, and I’ll see you again next Thursday at 7:30,
Mr. Moeller
